About us

Hi there!

We are Marina and Micaella, a mother-daughter duo who founded this love project of ours called Wild Wawa. For as long as we can remember we’ve loved creating things. Shortly after Valentina was born, first baby for me (Micaella) and grand-baby for my mama (Marina), we finally took the plunge and launched our first joint collection of children's clothing that we decided to call Wild Wawa. The word 'wawa' means infant in Quechua, the native language spoken in the Andean highlands of Peru. And 'wild' well, that is pretty self-explanatory and our baby girl was wild since day one!

In one sentence, Wild Wawa is our attempt to bring to life high-quality, eco-friendly clothes with handcrafted touches that showcase the skillful and timeless beauty of artisan craftsmanship.

Having spent our lives between Peru and California resulted in us feeling deeply inspired by each unique place. We're passionate about Peru’s incredible craft, in particular the various forms of knit-work and hand-embroidery which you can often find in our designs. Moreover, in our effort to produce only the highest quality garments for your babies and ours while minimizing our environmental impact as much as possible we work exclusively with natural fibers and certified organic cottons.

Everything is handmade in Lima, Peru by a small team of incredibly talented women we've had the fortune of knowing and working with for several years. Marina is a veteran of the children's apparel industry having started her first line of children's clothing, Victoria Kids, over twenty years ago. Many of the women you see in the photo below have been with her since the very beginning! They, like us, feel thankful to be able to earn a living doing something they love. Also, since several of the women we work with are mothers to young children themselves, we provide them with the opportunity to work from home so they can make caring for their families their number one priority.

Our hope is that our garments are seen as heirlooms that can be passed on for generations in your families and that they are truly loved since so much love goes into making them. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out. We're more than happy to help in any way we can.

Lots of love!

Marina, Micaella & Baby V.
