What does GOTS certified mean?
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the world’s leading textile processing standard for organic fibers, including ecological and social criteria backed by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.
By using GOTS certified organic cotton for our baby layettes and essentials we're fulfilling our mission to be as ethical and sustainable as we can. Furthermore, we’re providing mamas reassurance that the garments they’re putting on their loved ones are made from the purest materials possible, free from any harmful toxins and chemicals including pesticides and man-made fertilisers.
Other benefits of using GOTS certified organic cotton are that it's better for the environment, it's better for the workers in the fields who are growing and harvesting the cotton, the factory conditions where the textiles are processed are better and the cotton is GM free.
What is so special about Pima cotton?
Like cashmere or wine, there are varying degrees of quality when it comes to cotton. Peruvian Pima cotton is considered one, if not the best in the world for it’s ideal growing conditions, extra long staple length compared to other cotton fibers (the length of the white fuzzy part of the cotton plant) and because it’s almost entirely harvested by hand.
All these factors make it supremely soft, exceptionally durable and highly resistant to pilling. You can wash a hundred times and the fabric doesn’t get worn down or scratchy like other cotton fabrics do. It’s also hypoallergenic so perfect for kiddos with eczema or other skin sensitivities. The fact that we use GOTS certified organic Pima cotton also makes it that much better in terms of its purity and sustainability for our environment.
If an item says “sold out” will you be restocking?
Typically if you see an item that is sold out we probably won’t be restocking unless we just launched the product and it sells out immediately and we have enough time within the season to produce a restock. We manufacture all our clothing in Lima, Peru so we need to factor in production costs and shipping timeframes to make sure it makes sense to produce another batch. Make sure to subscribe to our newsletter as we'll always announce any restocks to our subscribers first.
How do i care for my new garment?
Care instructions are provided in the product page for each item. However, in general terms, our pieces made of knit cotton fabric are fine to be machine washed and tumble dried.
For items made of cotton gauze we recommend hand washing gently and laying flat to dry. We also recommend hand washing and laying flat to dry for all our knitwear pieces and garments with handcrafted details and embroidery.
